From June to August, The Glasgow School of Art’s Blythswood House operates as a summer hostel welcoming interns, summer school students, conference delegates, long-term visitors and groups visiting Glasgow. Our accommodation is ideal for:

  • Study Abroad Cohorts
  • Summer Schools
  • Faculty Groups
  • Professional Training Participants
  • Event Attendees and Event Staff

We offer spacious single occupancy bedrooms with queen-sized beds, ensuite facilities, shared self-catering kitchens and communal spaces - providing a comfortable and convenient stay in the heart of the city. Our fully furnished accommodation features a contemporary design and is ideally located close to restaurants, shops and excellent transport links.

Guests enjoy complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout their stay, with bedding, linen and towels included as part of each booking. Additional onsite amenities include:

  • Pay-as-you-go laundry facility (with complimentary tumble drying)
  • Cinema Room
  • Meeting/study space
  • Games Room
  • Yoga Room
  • Garden

The meeting/study room can be booked free of charge for morning or afternoon sessions (9am–5pm), subject to availability. Blythswood House also offers an indoor bicycle storage area and a dedicated drying room for guest use. Please note that guests must provide their own bicycle lock for security and electric bikes are not permitted on site due to fire safety rules.

Please note guests must be 18 years or older or accompanied by an adult. Failure to comply may result in cancellation of the booking. 

  • Check-in: 2-5PM (self check-in after 5PM)
  • Check-out: 11AM

Reception is open from 9am to 5pm. If you expect to arrive after 5pm, please let us know in advance so we can notify our night duty staff and provide self-check-in instructions.

We accommodate group bookings for a minimum of 4 guests with a minimum stay of 3 nights.

2026 Rates
  • Standard Rate: £50 per night
  • Student / Intern Rate: £34 per night
2027 Rates
  • Standard Rate: £55 per night
  • Student / Intern Rate: £37 per night

All prices include VAT. Rates for 2027 also include the 5% Tourism Levy in Glasgow, which comes into effect in January of 2027. If you are staying with us while attending a summer course at GSA or will be studying in Glasgow for the duration of your stay, you may be exempt from this levy and would receive a 5% deduction per night of your stay.

Accessibility Information

Accessible facilities include:

  • Accessible rooms with level access, ramp access at the main entrance, wet rooms, and adapted kitchen facilities (subject to availability)
  • Two on-site lifts serving all floors
  • Pillow vibrator/Deafgard available on request (please request in advance to ensure availability)
  • Hearing loop installed at reception
